Tsali Notch Vineyard

Located an hour outside of Knoxville sets the Tsali Notch Vineyard. The name—which represents a historic Cherokee leader—isn’t the only thing unique to this vineyard. Tsali Notch Vineyard is the largest muscadine vineyard in Tennessee. Known as “America’s Wild Grape,” this special grape, grown in this beautiful setting, is just one of the many attractive reasons for celebrating your special day at Tsali Notch Vineyard.

A Vineyard Surrounded by East Tennessee Mountains

Tsali Notch Vineyard sits in the Tennessee Overhill Heritage Area and provides stunning views of both the Cherokee National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains. More than 6,000 vines of luscious muscadine grapes grow on 21 miles of trellis, covering 35 of the 202-acre estate. A rustic wedding in a scenic setting just doesn’t get any better than this.

During harvest season in September and October, guests can pick their own muscadine grapes for their own juice or jelly. These are two of their busiest months so be sure to contact them far enough in advance to secure a date. Tsali Notch Vineyard grows a total of six varieties of muscadine grapes.

There are vineyards and then there are vineyards with views. As a Knoxville-based wedding photographer, Tsali Notch Vineyard is surrounded by the mountains I call home. It is among my favorite venues for photography simply because of the natural beauty of the vines on the trellis, the Tennessee mountains, and the rustic buildings that host many special occasions.

Tsali Notch Vineyard offers several indoor and outdoor spaces for weddings and events. The vineyard, barns, farmhouse, and surrounding property give couples different options for the ceremony and reception. You can also move between the spaces throughout the day without leaving the property.

The Upper Barn

The Upper Barn is the main event space at Tsali Notch Vineyard. Its rustic setting fits naturally with the surrounding vineyard and East Tennessee landscape. The barn can be used for wedding receptions and other parts of the celebration.

The Jackson Lounge

The Jackson Lounge is a renovated two-room farmhouse on the property. It provides a smaller indoor space and adds another option for couples using different areas of the vineyard throughout their wedding.

The Tasting Room

The tasting room is located inside a reconstructed log building. Its wood construction and vineyard setting reflect the history and character of the property. It can also provide another gathering space during a wedding weekend or event.

Outdoor Weddings Among the Vines

The vineyard itself is a large part of the experience at Tsali Notch. Rows of muscadine vines, open land, and surrounding mountain views provide several options for outdoor ceremonies and photographs.

Couples can use the outdoor setting as much or as little as they want throughout the day. The vineyard can become part of the ceremony, cocktail hour, or portraits. Having the barn and other indoor spaces nearby also makes it easy to use several parts of the property during the wedding.
