When capturing some of life's greatest events and most magical moments, you may decide that having a backdrop of stunning natural beauty is the way to go.

 

Not only will you have the best backdrop that Mother Nature can provide, but you will have the best lighting, as well. If you are thinking about going outside and you live in Tennessee, the Smoky Mountains offer some of the best scenery around. Here are some things to keep in mind if you want to capture your precious memories in the Smokies.

The Smokies cover a wide area. There are many beautiful scenic locations where you can stage your photos.

 

There are some really lovely trails. Cades Cove is also a very popular destination, especially for engagement photographs and elopements. As a Smoky Mountain permitted photographer, we are familiar with much of the area. We certainly have location suggestions. We want your pictures to be perfect.

Natural light is one of the great things about shooting photos outdoors.

 

Choosing a time of day will influence the mood and the outcome of your photos. Do you want to capture an early morning proposal? How about some fun family photos at sunset? You could have your wedding at sunset and reception photos with a host of fireflies making an appearance. We always make use of golden hour as it's the perfect time of day for photos

Natural locations mean that Mother Nature is in charge.

 

If the weather is less than hospitable, you may need boots and rain gear. If the weather is cool, you will want to wear a sweater or bring a jacket. You may not want to wear a three-piece suit to propose to your intended in the middle of July. Just saying. And if we will be photographing anywhere near a body of water or marshy ground, we will definitely have some mosquito repellent. Being prepared for whatever Mother Nature may throw at you will make your session go more smoothly!
