The Quarry Venue

The Quarry Venue is a unique wedding venue in West Knoxville, Tennessee. This family-owned event venue is unique due to the quarry’s connection to Knoxville’s past as “The Marble City.” The Quarry was once famous for its pink marble. Now, The Quarry hosts weddings and special events throughout the year. As a Knoxville wedding photographer, I find this venue—and its setting—an amazing place to photograph.

The Venue

The Carrara serves as the main venue. This historic building features a heated and cooled 6,000 sq. ft. indoor space. Several words come to mind when I think of this property:

  • Natural
  • Beautiful
  • Rustic
  • Historic
  • Industrial

The Quarry offers natural elements you won’t find at any other venue. The mere nature of what the quarry was for—the mining of stone—makes it a truly unique venue for your wedding. The renovated facility allows for a fully functional event.

While there’s nothing wrong with the standard hotel ballroom for a wedding, The Quarry is an outside-the-box venue. If you’re searching for a unique venue for your special day, then The Quarry is worth your consideration.

The Setting

The Quarry is best known for its breathtaking setting, The Canyon. The outdoor space features 100 ft. soaring walls encased in a grand walkway. The walkway leads to a large patio and there, a pond and a 25 ft. waterfall await your discovery. The setting is described as a “truly stunning outdoor cathedral.”

The Canyon is one site you must see to appreciate genuinely. Standing among the soaring walls, you forget you are near the city, yet The Quarry is only 15 minutes from the closest airport and downtown Knoxville.

A convenient location and all the ambiance of a romantic wedding make this the ultimate Knoxville wedding location. The setting is incredible. The beauty is beyond description. This is it if you’re looking for an “oh wow” venue for your special day.

Services

It’s important to note that The Quarry is a family-owned event site. The Boling and Burton families grew up enjoying many private events on the property. Now, it is their pleasure to share it with the public for special events, such as weddings.

The Quarry offers an event coordinator, Lindsey Boling, and an event designer, Morgan Burton, to ensure you have the best wedding experience possible. Due to the unique features of this venue, these services are invaluable in your wedding day planning and preparation. Lindsey and Morgan know the property inside out and what works and what doesn’t. This experience makes for smoother planning and less stress for you.

Both Lindsey and Morgan celebrated their weddings at The Quarry. They recognize the significance of this special day for you and your partner. They are a dynamic duo when it comes to producing events that often exceed expectations.

The Marble City

The first known quarry operations for pink marble date to 1838. Knoxville developed as a polishing and distribution center for Tennessee Pink Marble. Once you know what to look for, you can easily spot the marble inside and outside buildings. The Pink Rose is the most well-known shade, with burgundy (sometimes referred to as cedar) as another shade. The pink marble industry started to decline after World War II when demand decreased due to cheaper building materials entering the market.

Knoxville’s history as “The Marble City” is captured in a connected trail in and around the city. The Tennessee Pink Marble Trail is a 35-mile trail encircling a 5-mile radius of attractions and historic landmarks.  The Knoxville Museum of Art and the Knoxville Botanical Gardens are just two examples of stops along the trail.

The trail is a fun way for out-of-town guests to explore the city and to learn about its history at the same time. Consider Knoxville for a destination wedding, complete with a pink marble theme. With The Quarry as your venue, you can’t go wrong with a unique destination wedding of your dreams.

Erin Morrison Photography

The Quarry is a place of exceptional natural beauty. Photographing weddings here provides me with the opportunity to do what I love. My style is documentary, using natural light, making my skills and this venue a great fit. I’ve photographed weddings here many times, yet I always spot a new angle or backdrop whenever I’m there.

I’m always humbled when chosen as a wedding photographer. I value the trust placed in me to capture your special day. As I learn to know you during planning, I watch for the unspoken signs connecting you as a couple. It is the tender and candid moments that I strive to capture. There are no staged or planned shots when it comes to my photography. My best hope is that you won’t even know I’m there! When you look at your wedding photos years later,  I want you to smile at the memories of your special day.

A professional wedding photographer is an investment that lasts beyond the wedding day. With so many fleeting moments, capturing the special ones is what I do. If I sound like the type of wedding photographer you’d like to have to document your special day, contact me. Let’s chat to discuss your plans and availability.
