You’re engaged! Yay! It’s one of the most exciting times of your life – you’ve met and fallen in love with the person of your dreams. So, it’s time to take some engagement photos! Engagement photos are some of the most important images you will ever take. They hold a special meaning that goes way beyond just a pretty picture. Let’s talk about a specific Knoxville engagement session location, Mead’s Quarry, and why you should keep this location on your “I wanna do photos here” list.

The Significance of an Engagement Session
Engagement photos are a milestone in your life and your wedding planning. I know that you want them to be just right. A Mead’s Quarry engagement session can let you get comfortable with me as a photographer and learn flattering poses and techniques to ensure your pictures are everything you’ve always dreamed of. The photo session allows us to establish a relationship before your wedding day. We will collaborate to give you just what you have in mind. From color tones to outfit choices, I know you have a vision in mind, and I will bring that to life just for you.

Accessible Location in the Heart of Knoxville
Named for Frank Seymour Mead, the first president of Ross Marble Company, Mead’s Quarry opened in 1881. The company once produced 25,000-35,000 cubic feet of Tennessee pink marble yearly. Tennessee pink marble is only found in East Tennessee and has a distinctive pinkish-gray color. It’s been used to construct historic buildings across the United States, including the US Capitol, the National Gallery of Art, and New York City’s Grand Central Station. It is no longer a working quarry and has now become one of the most idyllic spots in East Tennessee, thanks to its spectacular history and extraordinary scenery.
Located just minutes from Downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, and under the purview of Ijams Nature Center, the site became a natural asset and was purchased for public use in 2001. This hidden gem offers a taste of serene nature that takes a step away from city life. Described as “Knoxville’s very own wildlife sanctuary,” you’ll find everything from hiking trails to sparkling blue quarry waters. It’s a beautiful spot year-round, with marble cliffs, foliage, and breathtaking scenery.
