The Press Room

As a photographer, I’m always excited at any time there’s a new venue. What especially thrills me is when something old is repurposed for new use. The Press Room is Knoxville’s newest event venue. The owners, Jim and Lori Klonaris, along with a team of architects, builders, and more, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in March 2018. Celebrations, such as weddings, are what make this venue a great choice for your special day.

Built in the 1920s, the building was first a car dealership, then a bowling alley, and eventually, a print shop. The restoration resulted in the creation of a clean, modern look while honoring the building’s history.

The Rooms

The Assembly – The Assembly is one area where the building’s original concrete floor remains but was polished during restoration. Hundreds of lights from above create a glowing reflection from the floor, resulting in a dazzling effect. The Assembly is a large space; it easily accommodates up to 600 seats. The brick walls, and industrial feel, along with the warm light atmosphere, all work together for an incredibly romantic ambiance.

The Printer’s Lounge & Courtyard – The Printer’s Lounge & Courtyard provides the perfect mix of indoor/outdoor space. The Printer’s Lounge features a fully stocked bar that connects to outdoor space on each end of the bar. To the front of the bar is a stunning 400-square-foot patio elevated above street level. This elevated outdoor space is large enough to use as a wedding space. To the end of the bar is an additional, though smaller, outdoor space.

Bride & Groom Suites – The Press Room offers suites for the bride and groom. This may seem like a small detail but it’s an important one. Having a secure space for final prepping and dressing on your special day is a detail that’s easy to overlook during the planning process.

The 1923 Loft – Located at the mezzanine level above the first level, the 1923 Loft provides a smaller setting. The 1923 Loft is best suited for events such as small rehearsal dinners.

The Possibilities

Ok, so “the possibilities are endless” is so cliche but at The Press Room, they really are endless. No matter the theme of your wedding, adapting the decorations to the setting is a decorator’s dream.  From centerpieces to flowers, the restored building is renovated space that’s ready for your personal touch.

The Press Room wants to make your day as stress-free as possible so be sure to inquire about their wedding planning services. They are, after all, experts when it comes to the building and rooms. Let them help make your vision a reality.

Menu planning is done onsite with the onsite Spaces in the City Catering business. A full commercial kitchen is located in the basement of The Press Room. The kitchen employs a full-time chef. The Press Room is truly a one-of-a-kind full-service venue in historic downtown Knoxville.

Perhaps the best part is that no setup or breakdown is required on your part. Just leave that to The Press Room. They take care of the details so you can concentrate on your day.

The Knoxville Region

The Knoxville region offers activities for all ages. If you are expecting out-of-town guests, check with local hotels for group rates and room blocks for your wedding. Events, outdoor adventures, museums, and more await your guests. Downtown Knoxville is home to a variety of wine bars and the city also houses many art studios. The Zoo Knoxville has lots of animals waiting to welcome your guests and the Star of Knoxville Riverboat is a fun way to cruise the Tennessee River. With so much to see and do, encourage your guests to plan an extra day or two to take to explore Knoxville.

Love is Love

All types of ceremonies are welcome at The Press Room, where love is love. From vow renewal ceremonies and same-sex weddings to interfaith and even non-religious ceremonies, The Press Room is where love unites and in some cases, renews. It is also where love sometimes secretly elopes.

Fall in Love with The Press Room

The Press Room is a unique setting in historic downtown Knoxville. The rebirth of this old building that once was home to cars, bowlers, and a printer, now celebrates unions of love. If you’re searching for a special venue for your wedding, think outside the standard ballroom and fall in love with The Press Room. One tour of the inside will have you picturing your special day among the brick walls and glowing lights of The Assembly room. Or, you might want to plan a bridal shower brunch with friends for the outdoor space. The possibilities are, yes, endless. The setting not only lends itself to creating a great ambiance, but it also is a magical place for capturing photos of your day. For more information about The Press Room, contact them here.

What I Do & How I Do It

No matter the type of ceremony, capturing your special day is an honor for me. I never tire of the smiles and love of friends and family, all gathered in celebration. A wedding entails a lot of planning, thought, hope, and yes, stress. Everything doesn’t always go as planned yet it is the hiccups that go with little notice.

The true focus of the special couple is never lost and capturing the emotions of the day is what I do best. As a professional photographer serving the Knoxville area, I specialize in the natural, the non-staged, and at the moment. Getting to know you as a couple before the wedding is helpful. In fact, starting your journey with you from the engagement photos to the wedding allows even more opportunity for me to catch you being, well, you.

To learn more about me and my services, contact me here. Based in Knoxville, I specialize in natural light, and documentary photography. The Press Room is the type of setting that lends itself well to these two focuses of my style. Start spreading the news about The Press Room, Knoxville’s new downtown wedding venue.
