RiverView Family Farm
If you’re searching for the perfect setting to have a rustic wedding, then you owe it to yourself to check out RiverView Family Farm. Located along the banks of Fort Loudon Lake, this wedding venue is built upon a strong family legacy. It makes the perfect spot for the day you start your forever. As a Knoxville-based wedding photographer, I love the natural backdrop the beauty of RiverView Family Farm provides for capturing a celebration of love.
The History
Established in 1801, Riverview Family Farm is one of the oldest operating farms in Tennessee. Throughout the years, the farm produced many agricultural products. Today, the farm focuses solely on Black Angus beef, which is sold for local purchase.
Farms played a vital role in the development of Tennessee and RiverView Family Farm was among the many contributors to Tennessee agriculture. It’s hard to imagine how hard the homesteaders of 1801 worked to establish and cultivate this land. The rich legacy and heritage of RiverView Family Farm is part of what endears it to so many for their wedding day venue.
The serene location along Fort Loudon Lake is what prompted the family to begin hosting events in 2012. A 6,000-square-foot Gambrel barn was added in 2014, using timber from the farm. Deemed, “The Legacy Barn,” this additional feature to the farm setting resulted in the farm becoming one of Knoxville’s premier locations for rustic weddings.
The Barn
The hand-crafted Legacy Barn includes a prep area for caterers, tables and chairs, and restroom accommodations. The open concept of the barn allows for a variety of layouts for weddings or receptions for up to 250 guests. All you need is a little creativity and imagination to bring your rustic wedding to life. From using lanterns to having a farm-to-table reception, the possibilities for this venue are endless.
There’s something special about a barn made of locally milled timber. Natural wood is beautiful in itself yet combined with a ceremony or the celebration that follows, it is a photographer’s dream. The beams and detail that comprise the hand-crafted barn exemplify the rustic beauty of Tennessee’s hard and softwoods.
Whether your dream wedding is during the day or at night, the ambiance of Fort Loudon Lake and the natural setting of the hand-crafted barn make this venue charming beyond words.
The Country House
In addition to the Legacy Barn, the venue offers the Country House. This quaint farmhouse makes for a great bridal suite, with 1,500 square feet of space and separate parking. There’s a fully functional kitchen, four rooms, and two bathrooms.
The Country House provides a quiet place to prepare for your wedding. Like the Legacy Barn, the house offers a rustic and charming feel. I like to capture the ambiance of this setting and the interaction of the bridal party before they depart for the big moment.
The Ambiance
When you stop and think about it, the chance to marry on property established in 1801 is pretty cool. Add to that thought the fact that the land produced—and still produces—food products, and you soon see why this isn’t your standard wedding venue.
Located at the headwaters of the Tennessee River near Knoxville, Fort Loudon Lake features 379 miles of shoreline. Riverview Family Farm’s location along the shoreline is what couples love for either an outdoor ceremony or for just enjoying the view from the Legacy Barn.
From the lake breeze to the fresh air of the Tennessee countryside, this natural setting will take your breath away. Riverview Family Farm is a Knoxville, Tennessee wedding venue that’s rustic. Don’t just take my word for it—contact them today to schedule a tour.
Destination Wedding
Riverview Farm makes a great location for a destination wedding. It’s not every day you find a hand-crafted barn, with a full-service kitchen, located alongside a lake. This special wedding venue, on a family-owned farm, is an opportunity for the ultimate rustic wedding you’ve always wanted.
The Knoxville area offers attractions for all ages. Ask about group rates for visiting friends and family at local hotels and consider unique lodging places, like cabins and inns. Encourage guests to stay a few extra days—once they arrive, they’ll be glad they did!

I take my job seriously yet I embrace the unexpected and downright fun. My style is natural light, and documentary photography. There are no shot lists with me. No staged poses, no “you stand here” type of directions.
Your day is a lifetime event and I want to capture the true emotions and moments that occur naturally. I like to meet with couples during the planning process in order to learn more about them. This helps me to identify those little quirks that cause you to smile and the spark that leads to planning your wedding.
