Naturally Elegant Church Wedding in Knoxville
I don’t know if I have ever told anyone this. But, I really enjoy the mood and feel of winter engagement photos and winter weddings in Knoxville. There is something about the cool air and foggy skies that makes the light so pretty. When Catherine and Morgan told me their wedding venues, my heart did a little happy dance! Their ceremony at Church Street United Methodist Church with the reception following at Jackson Terminal! Woot woot! They had chosen two Knoxville locations that have natural elegance and charm! I knew it would be the perfect wedding day.
Church Street United Methodist Church
The beauty of this church deserves so much praise! After a fire to the original structure in 1928, the opening for Church Street’s revealed a new stone Gothic structure, which included a sanctuary and education wing. It was designed by a church member in conjuncture with the well-known New York firm of John Russell Pope. The firm’s work includes the Jefferson Memorial and the National Archives in Washington, D.C. One of the highlights of the sanctuary is the stained-glass windows that adorn the altar — a lovely focal point for any service or wedding ceremony. But all of this was almost lost during the tight financial times of the Great Depression! But alas, the note to this immaculate structure was paid off in the 1950’s and saved from the sale.
Jackson Terminal Reception
Gold chargers, white florals, and lush greenery contrasted perfectly with against the exposed wooden rafters and dark brick walls of Jackson Terminal. Elegance and charm literally oozed from this wedding as Catherine and Morgan danced under the hundreds of lights that adorn the ceiling. And can we talk about how handsome Catherine’s dad looked in his pressed military suit? His toast to the new couple was humbly simple as he looked at his daughter and her new husband, while his wife beamed with pride.
