If you’re looking for a beautiful spot in Knoxville, TN, to capture your big day, you’ve got to check out Bleak House Knoxville. This historic house, rooted in the Civil War, is a perfect venue for a styled shoot or wedding ceremony today. I routinely use this downtown location for engagement photos, which took me to the Bleak House for this session. As a photographer, I’ve seen how this location makes every session feel extra special. And on a rainy day such as this, the engagement photos of Rylee and Cody needed extra attention!
Downtown Knoxville Location
This private rental location sits right near downtown and overlooks the Tennessee River. Just West of The University of Tennessee Campus, you’ll be excited by the mix of city energy and natural beauty. I’m always thankful for the chance to shoot in such an exclusive spot. It’s a hidden gem in Knoxville that adds something special to every session. The best part? After a session, couples can head anywhere in Knoxville to celebrate their engagement! They’re already dolled up in hair and makeup, so why not take advantage of a date night afterward?

The White Room
This vaulted space at Historic Bleak House is bright and airy. As a photographer, I adore it because the white walls bounce natural light everywhere. It’s a perfect spot for pictures—even on a rainy day. Many clients comment on how beautiful and timeless this room feels.

The Outdoor Patio
Outside the white room, you’ll find a spacious patio. French doors open to this beautiful spot overlooking the property’s extensive grounds. The patio’s white walls, old windows, and smaller water fountains allow multiple photo-taking spots in such a small space! I love using this location for an engagement session due to its shade and ease of access!

The Wisteria Lane
This wisteria-covered pathway is where the grounds begin at Bleak House Knoxville. Stone pillars line both sides, and a stairway leads you down to the central water fountain. It’s green and shaded all year, but the blooming wisteria makes it truly beautiful in spring. As a photographer, I love shooting engagement photos at the Bleak House here – it’s the show-stopper for many of my couples (and myself)!

The Water Fountain
At the end of Wisteria Lane, you’ll find a grand water fountain that opens into a timeless and romantic space. There is no other space quite like this one in the area! It’s one of my favorite spots at Bleak House Knoxville because of how beautiful and expansive it feels. The area is great for multiple photo-taking opportunities, from overlooking the water fountain to sitting beside it.

The Tennessee River Landing
Past the fountain, each landing guides you down to a final spot with a railing that overlooks the Tennessee River. The expansive property sits above the water, giving you a gorgeous view of south Knoxville. To me, this is the perfect place to end any session.
