Why I Started a Wedding Podcast for Wedding Planning
After photographing hundreds of weddings, I’ve spent much time on the car ride home processing a wedding day—the wins, the wildcards, the “what even was that” moments. Sitting next to me in the passenger seat is one of my main second photographers, Brittany. We started joking that our post-wedding therapy sessions in the car should be recorded. And then we stopped joking and actually put in a (whole whole lot) of work.
Introducing Aisle Be Honest Wedding Podcast
Aisle Be Honest is a wedding podcast I co-host with my friend and fellow photographer, Brittany Sidwell. Between us, we’ve seen it all, such as ceremonies that ran an hour behind, pants left at home, and perfect timelines that unraveled due to robe photos.
We’ve also witnessed the kind of love that makes your job feel like a privilege. This podcast is our love letter to all the couples trying to plan a meaningful wedding without losing their minds.
My heart cannot describe how insanely grateful I am to ChopChop Beauty Club, ChopChop Social Club, and Q Videography for their support and sponsorship!
What We Talk About
Every episode follows the wedding planning timeline from engagement to the post-wedding comedown. I’ve always been a huge fan of providing honest tips and advice for couples planning a wedding! Now, I have the opportunity to do it through a microphone!
We cover things like:
- Vendor red flags.
- Pinterest expectations versus real life.
- Getting ready chaos.
- Why does hair and makeup cost as much as it does?
- Wedding photographer pet peeves.
- Rain plans and what to do when things go sideways.
- The emotional weight of wedding planning that no one tells you about.
It’s the kind of stuff we wish couples heard more often. No fluff. No filter. Just real talk from two people who have been there and seen it (mostly) all.
Why You’ll Want to Listen
If you’re planning a wedding and feel overwhelmed by all the noise, this is for you. This is for you if you want advice from people who have worked at hundreds of weddings and know what it’s like behind the scenes. And if you want to laugh while learning how to not lose your mind while planning your big day, this is definitely for you.
Start with Episode One
If you’re wondering why two wedding photographers with full calendars decided to start a podcast, this is where it all begins. In Episode One, we share the why behind Aisle Be Honest, the real-life experiences that made us realize couples need more unfiltered help.
We talk about the weird stuff we’ve seen, the emotional support photographers provide, and why this industry could use a little more truth-telling.
Pull up a chair. Or get in the car. We’ll be right there with you.
