The range of emotions that this Knoxville wedding photographer felt on Caroline + Logan’s day was everything from pure joy to giddy happiness to awe of a Maid of Honor speech that had everyone in tears. #imnotcryingyourecrying There is so much that I could say about this lovely couple who I had the pleasure of meeting a year ago at their Melton Hill Park engagement photos, but I think the text behind these Southern Railway Station wedding photos is best left to that awesome Maid of Honor. So, here are some snippets of a speech that truly embodies this amazing bride and groom. For all the future MOHs out there: take note.

Maid of Honor Speech

“Hi my name is Carolyn and Caroline is my best pal in all of the land. What a privilege it is to be this girls Maid of Honor and how easy it is has been to celebrate her. A lot of people are nervous about this speech, I am just grateful to have the opportunity to give you a glimpse into who Caroline is and the love I have for her.

First I wanted to talk a little bit about Logan and the joy it has been to get to know him, see their relationship grow, and to now see them commit their lives to each other. One thing that really stands out to me about Logan is his attentiveness and how he loves Caroline in the smallest of ways. I’ve gotten to see him go far beyond the feeling of just loving Caroline, I’ve had the privilege of seeing him make the daily choice to love Caroline in all sorts of ways. I truly believe that is the way God calls us to treat others, He calls us to love through intricate and intentional ways. Remembering the big things like birthdays and anniversaries is easy, whereas Logan goes far beyond that and is able to show his love to her in the smallest, thoughtful daily choices…

Caroline and I have had the blessing of being best friends since the moment we were born. Caroline, Carolyn, two of the cutest bowl cuts you have ever seen, we both played tackle football, went to the same middle school, she broke her arm and unfortunately I wanted to break my arm, played collegiate softball, and then got to live out our lifelong dream of being roommates this past year. Never in my life have I experienced someone who was more like me, always on the same beat as me, or went through the same exact things as I have in my friendship with Caroline. To be quite honest, I am really glad that I haven’t experienced that with anyone else. Because it has just made it that much sweeter for the both of us.

Caroline was the first person to teach me what a pinky promise was. Since Caroline and I were little girls we have been making pinky promises. No matter if it was a big promise or little promise Caroline always held me accountable. What a joy it has been today to see Caroline faithfully making promises to Logan to uphold in their marriage. I found a letter Caroline had written to me in middle school and in that letter she had promised me two things. She promised me we would be best friends till the end, and that we would be each other’s maids of honor. As you can see these promises still stand true today. They might sound silly, but the loyalty Caroline shows to her words, her friends, and those she loves is something I admire so much about her.

I truly believe that God creates people that are so similar to us, to become friends. This is a way He reveals Himself to us and shows us love each day. That person for me is Caroline. In this past year, I got to see Caroline every day. And each day she would do something I found myself admiring, whether that be forcing all of us to recycle at the house because she truly cared about it or her always simply asking me “How was your day?” because she honestly wanted to know. There are so many things I am going to miss so much about not seeing Caroline so often. Like when we would see people from our childhood that we haven’t seen in years, and they would see us together, there was a huge sense of pride I felt in telling them we are still best friends and now roommates. I don’t really know how to describe it but she is someone that simply getting to see her brings me so much joy. As sad as I am about not getting to see her and share in that sweet after-work conversation every day anymore, I am so over the moon happy that she is going to be with someone who appreciates that joy she brings to so many.

There are so many things I love about Caroline whether it be her faith, her infectious sense of humor, the fact that she will always love you for you, or that she has honestly never met a stranger. I don’t think I could love Caroline anymore than I already do. All of our lives people could never get our names right, I never understood how they always mixed us up and for some reason, it never bothered me, but I realized now there’s nobody I would rather be mistaken as than Caroline

Logan, you are getting the best roommate you or I will ever have, the biggest supporter, someone who will always push you to do your best, my most faithful and steadfast pal, and most importantly my best friend from this day forward. Take care of her and always buy her Chipotle if she gets hungry. I wish and pray for nothing but a lifetime of happiness, joy, and love for both of you. May God bless you with many children named Carolyn. I can’t wait to pray for you guys, support you two, and see where God leads you on this next part of your journey. We are all blessed to be able to celebrate this wonderful couple tonight, here’s a toast to a love worth being celebrated!”
