I've been in the biz of photography for over seven years. I've learned a thing or twenty thousand on this crazy planet. And the best way to share what I've learned is through a bit of wit and sarcasm + margaritas.
Photography is HARD
Photography is an actual labor of love.
From a base level, it physically IS labor. There are suitcases of equipment, lights, reflectors, and lenses, to lug around. It's working in the heat, the rain, the wind, and the cold. And if you're sick, there is no turning back. Fever? Headache? Runny nose? Photographers suffer through it all.
From a mental standpoint, it is just as tough. As a photographer, you're the CEO of your own business, and that label comes with a lot of work — marketing, bidding, bookkeeping, estimates, uploading, and downloading to name just a few tasks. Only a small amount of photographers can afford to hire staff. Therefore, the amount of pressure to perform well on all jobs is high. Burn out is real.
And let's not forget the constant pressure to update your repertoire of knowledge on animation, video, editing, social media, color, retouching, and education. And that is to keep yourself regularly and consistently relevant to your potential clients.
Finally, photography is emotionally a labor of love. The social media world tells photographers to "put yourself out there" and "to tell stories." Robots, algorithms, and programs overrun our lives and can cause addictive behavior and create negative emotions. Photographers wade through all the social media mess to build clients, build a portfolio, and to build an income.
Am I right, or am I right? I've been there, done that. Continue to do it. I've been in the photography game for over seven years now. I've watched every tutorial, purchased presets, and attended workshops.
In that time, I have found that less is more. If you are looking simple ways to build a business, then there are three things you need: SEO skills, Pinterest knowledge, and blogging know-how.

I saw Erin's work on Pinterest and instantly knew she was the perfect
photographer for our elopement. She went above and beyond to help us every
step of the way, including referring us to our wonderful officiant and providing lots
of insight about Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Her pricing and contracts
are so straightforward and reasonable, which speaks greatly to her
professionalism and reliability. The day of, she captured our personalities
beautifully, never putting us in cheesy poses. Our day was an absolute fairytale
and thanks to Erin, we have the pictures to prove it.

Erin and her team are amazing, really. We are photographers as well, and alllllll
throughout the planning process and even after the wedding, people asked us if it
was hard to pick a photographer for our own wedding- not at all. Erin was a
breathe of fresh air during our hectic day. She was timely, fun, creative, and most
importantly for us, down to earth. There is something so important about meshing
with your photographer that really lends to the best pictures, and we definitely had
that. I am so grateful that we picked such a fun team. Thanks Erin!

Erin Morrison Photography is one-of-a-kind. Erin is incredibly down-to-earth,
genuine, and talented. She loves getting to know people, and she is a natural
storyteller. We found Erin through Wedding Wire; out of all the photographers that
we looked at on Wedding Wire, her photos caught our eye and made us stop and
look. Her photos are very authentic and incredibly artistic. She was able to take
two slightly photo-awkward people and make us feel comfortable in front of the
camera. Our engagement and wedding photos are literally art. We will treasure
them forever. We would recommend Erin to anyone looking for an authentic,
professional, talented, easy-to-work-with wedding photographer. She won't

If you are looking for an engagement and/or wedding photographer look no
further! Erin is so talented and has incredible vision!! Like most couples, my
husband and I are not professional models so did not know what to do for a photo
session. However, Erin made us feel so comfortable the whole time like we were
spending time with a friend instead of having our pictures taken. On our wedding
day, Erin was able to get the most amazing photos in a short amount of time so we
could spend time with family and friends! HIGHLY recommend!

If I could leave 6 stars I would! All the praise and good reviews in the world would
not do justice to the incredible work Erin and her team does. As if the fantastic end
product wasn't enough, she is also the kindest, most personable person. She
makes what can often times be a stressful and hectic day go by without a hitch!
Erin had a way to make you feel so comfortable and loved and I think that's huge, especially on your wedding day!

I'm a huge photo hoarder so a good photographer was important to me and when I saw Erin's work I instantly fell in love. When we met her, it was not a disappointment! As it was our first professional photoshoot she made it easy and fun and never missed a beat! She did our engagement and wedding photos and
I'm completely obsessed with both! She gave us pictures to treasure for a lifetime
and I could never pay enough for that- she's not just a great photographer but a
great person. We'll never go to anyone else for photos!
