Foggy Sunrise Shoot at Petit Jean State Park

Last July, on a beautifully foggy morning at Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas, Kati and Kari asked me to do a couple’s photo session for them while they were in the States for The Real Workshop.

Kati and Kari came all the way from Finland to attend The Real Workshop. They liked my editing style and contacted me before the classes began. They expressed interest in doing a sunrise couple’s photo session at the Overlook in Petit Jean. Of course I agreed, because as you all know, I love couples’ sessions! I’m always so excited when I’m booked for one, they’re always so much fun! It’s such a joy to capture couples in love.

I won’t lie, at first, I was a little bummed that we didn’t get an actual “sunrise.” But what we got was far more magical than I could have ever imagined. I never get to shoot in the fog and I loved how the fog at Petit Jean just hung in the valleys below. The view was absolutely gorgeous!

I learned so much about the Finnish culture just from talking to Kati and Kari. It reminded me that sometimes we forget there are so many other cultures and people in this world. They were so warm and open. I had such an amazing time just hanging out with them.

All in all, the images we captured came out perfect! Even though we didn’t get the sun, we got an even more enchanting experience and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Kati and Kari, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day. I’ll drop you a line if I’m ever in Finland and maybe you can shoot a session for me!

The REAL Workshop

The REAL Workshop is a workshop I help teach that deals with the business side of wedding photography. I, along with other wedding photography professionals, teach photographers of all levels and backgrounds the ins and outs of what really goes on at a wedding. At the workshop, we cover everything from real world business applications to creative editing classes and LIVE shoots with real couples.  It was such a great opportunity to learn and connect with other photographers from around the world!
