Abingdon Virginia Engagement at Martha Washington Inn
Abingdon, Virginia is the epitome of small-town America. The streets are paved in brick and lined with immaculate old homes. There is still a Chamber of Commerce Building on Main Street, brick-covered streets, and an immaculate town square. All of these represent the epitome of small-town living. So, it’s no wonder that Jeri wanted to take her engagement photos here with her fiance.
Martha Washington Inn
All of our photos took place within just a few blocks of the Marsha Washington Inn. The Inn was built in 1832 as a private residence for General Francis Preston, his wife, and their nine children. Much of the architectural integrity of this historic landmark has been preserved. Much of the architectural integrity of this historic landmark has been meticulously preserved for over a century and a half. The original brick residence still comprises the central structure of the hotel. The original living room of the Preston family is now the main lobby. In fact, much of the stairway and parlors are the same today as they were in the 19th century.
The exterior of the Martha Washington Inn is also stunning, and where we chose to do these Abingdon, Virginia engagement photos. The mature Cherry Blossom trees immediately caught my eye as we arrived on the property. The pop of pinks highlighted this newly-engaged couple so well. The light cutting through the branches, which fell onto the historic porch, was a professional photographer’s dream.
As the evening came to a close, we ventured along the brick streets of this small town for a few more photos. I loved this couple’s casual cuddling and flirting throughout their engagement photos. Their wedding day is sure to be a romantic event for the ages.
